Yes. When machines are broken and deadlines are approaching I can get very stressed. But the good thing is that everyone else around me understands the stress because they have all felt it themselves and they are willing to help you out and calm you down.

      Hi Chloe,
Sometimes it can be stressful, but this is just like any other job in the world. You just have to take a breath, count to ten and remember that tomorrow is a new day and you will try again. Patience is an important quality to have as a scientist because sometimes things don’t work as you would like them too!

It does, but most jobs do. I think one of the great things about science is that, because you don’t know how or whether what you want to do is even possible, you have to get really comfortable with failure. Which is a great life skill! Nothing works perfectly all the time, and in science if you don’t accept that you will be constantly stressed. So definitely science can be stressful, but I actually think that the nature of scientific research forces us to be more zen about stress than we are to begin with.
